Zune Phone Rumored For MWC

We already know Windows Mobile 7 is launching at MWC 2010 (February 15 to 18). What we’d really like to know, though, is if Microsoft is really following Google’s lead with the Nexus One. If you’re inclined to believe Spanish website MuyComputer, it’s “confirmed.”
Hearsay and rumors are always fun, so we’ll bite. According to the blog, an anonymous source (which, we assume, has some “pull” in the matter) has confirmed to them that Nvidia will be on hand at the event, joining Microsoft as they unveil a new Tegra-based handset to be called the Zune Phone.
Yep, it’s just like Zune HD. Except it’s a phone. Just like the iPod Touch is to the iPhone. The above are just renders, by the way, so don’t wet your bed just yet. Still, this sounds exciting in a “so many people are going to talk about this, but never buy it” sort of way.
The supposed confirmation ends there and, of course, the requisite guesswork follows. MuyComputer adds that the Zune Phone will likely be the first device running the brand-spanking new Windows Mobile 7, with the following specs: a capacitive touchscreen with 272 x 480 resolution (really, not 480 x 800?), Wi-Fi, HDMI video out and a 70 gram weight. Basically, it should be a Zune HD with calls, text and a camera, which makes sense.
We’re not sure about the veracity of this, of course, but it does sound logical. What better way for Microsoft to debut their latest OS, after all, than with a phone of their own?
